I was delighted to attend the first Attestation Ceremony for 2025 on Tuesday 14 January and welcome a new cohort of 74 police officers to the force.
The event, which took place at the East Sussex National in Uckfield, saw 74 new officers swear their oath of allegiance in front of family members, friends and special guests.
These recruits have joined Sussex Police via three different entry routes: 28 officers have begun their journey through the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA); 27 through the Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP); and 19 through the Detective Constable Entry Programme (DCEP).
I really enjoy attending every Attestation Ceremony as it gives me the opportunity to meet all the new recruits, as well as their family and loved ones. It's also a chance to congratulate each of them for choosing Sussex Police and to thank them, on behalf of local residents across Sussex, for the work they are about to do to keep us all safe.
These officers are joining an organisation that's dedicated to excellence, integrity, the highest community protection and a relentless focus on bringing criminals to justice.
